Which Trades courses are becoming increasingly popular in Australia ?

NOV. 29, 2019

Learn how to develop your creative skills into an exciting and rewarding career! Solid Plastering & Painting and Decorating are two very interesting courses with both theoretical and practical components that include much more than just putting paint on a wall.

Creativity: Learn cool things like how to operate elevated work platforms, erect and dismantle scaffolding, apply stains, varnish and clear timber finishes, and how to apply wallpaper. These are all skills that are very useful and add value to a tradie. There is even a business finance section of the course that teaches students the about budgeting, cost and revenue, to prepare them to be able to run their own business.

No two days are the same! Projects can include painting the apartments of a brand-new high-rise, renovating a family home, or designing the colour scheme for a childcare centre. As projects progress, they provide you with a great sense of accomplishment.

It’s motivating to put your creative touch to an open canvas and see your work add colour and personality!

College:  Academique College on the Gold Coast offers both courses. The college has qualified and experienced trainers, as well as amazing staff that are there to support students. Academique provides students with the necessary assistance and resources to apply for trades recognition.

In the trades courses there are international students, both male and female, from all over the world.

Course Duration: Each certificate has a duration of 94 weeks (around 2 years) or can be combined for a program of 3+ years.

Worldwide Recognition: Australian education is held in very high regard within the international education community. This is a huge advantage for people who hold an Australian qualification because it allows them the opportunity to pursue their career dreams in Australia or around the world.

Work: The demand for these two professions is extremely high in Australia and there is expected to be around 19,000 job openings over 5 years. Painters and plasterers are paid extremely well. The average weekly pay rate for Painters is $1,317 and $1,600 for solid plasterers.

With more experience and skill, painters and plasterers can easily make more than the average rates. A qualified plasterer we spoke to said, “I can easily get $500 a day working on site as a solid plasterer”.

Pathways: Certificate III in Painting and Decorating & Certificate III in Solid Plastering are two qualifications lead to occupations that are in both Medium-Long Term List as well as in the Queensland Skilled Occupation List

Certificate:

CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (CRICOS CODE 096332G)
